What Is The Tutor Network?
The Tutor Network is a peer tutoring platform geared towards efficiently matching students with peer tutors whenever needed, offering an inexpensive and speedy service to increase access to academic support. The Tutor Network is unique in that it is an on-demand, in person tutoring platform; tutees will be able to meet with tutors in person in order to have a more personalized tutoring experience. Peer tutoring has been empirically linked to a plethora of benefits, including increased cognitive gains and academic performance. We are aiming to not only provide students with academic support, but also partner them with fellow students who can share their own academic experiences.
Imagine a student is heading to the local cheese house for lunch, but next period, they have an extremely important mathematics exam that they don’t feel entirely comfortable with. The student would be able to pull up the site on any device and request a tutor for the subject at a specific location (the cheese house) for a specific amount of time (the length of lunch). A network of student tutors will immediately receive this request, and any tutor can respond to take up the job. After the session, the tutee can rate the quality of their tutor and the tutor will be paid by commission.
